Less REM Sleep Linked to Dementia

People who develop dementia spend an average of 17 percent of their sleep time in the Rapid Eye Movement (REM) stage, compared with 20 percent for those who did not develop dementia. Researchers found that for every 1% reduction in REM sleep, there was a 9% increase in risk of dementia.
